Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (12g)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder (4g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (3g)
  • 1 large egg (approx. 50g)
  • 3/4 cup (180ml) milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5ml)
  • 12 Oreo cookies (about 140g)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying (about 4 cups / 950ml)
  • Powdered sugar (icing sugar)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  2. Pour vegetable oil into a deep fryer or large pot. Heat over medium-high heat until the oil reaches 350°F (175°C). Maintain this temperature throughout the frying process.
  3. Dip each Oreo cookie into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated. Let any excess batter drip off.
  4. Carefully place 2-3 battered Oreos into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and puffy.
  5. Remove the fried Oreos with a slotted spoon or spider strainer and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. Let the Oreos cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar (if desired). Serve immediately.
