Ingredients:
- 1 medium head green cabbage (about 2 lbs / 900g), cored and shredded
- 4 tablespoons (57g) unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup (15g) fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup (15g) fresh chives, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Core and shred the cabbage.
- Add about 1 inch of water to a pot and bring to a boil. Place a steamer basket inside, ensuring the water doesn't touch it. Add the shredded cabbage, cover tightly, and steam until tender-crisp (about 8-10 minutes).
- While the cabbage is steaming, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Continue cooking until the butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma (about 3-5 minutes). Be careful not to burn it!
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
- Drain the steamed cabbage well and transfer it to a large mixing bowl. Pour the browned butter and garlic mixture over the cabbage. Add the chopped parsley, chives, and lemon juice.
- Toss gently to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve immediately.
