Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium if preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 4 fresh tuna steaks (6 oz each, about 1-inch thick)
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, lime juice, olive oil, minced garlic, honey, black pepper, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
  2. Season tuna steaks lightly with salt. Place tuna in a shallow dish or resealable bag and pour the marinade over. Cover or seal and refrigerate for 30 minutes (maximum 1 hour).
  3. Heat your grill pan or outdoor grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Remove tuna from marinade (discard marinade) and place steaks on the grill. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the outside is seared and the inside remains slightly pink.
  5. Remove tuna from grill and let rest for a minute before slicing. Serve immediately.
