Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 8 slices thick-cut bacon, cut in half lengthwise (approx 225g)
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) honey
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) black pepper
- Wooden skewers (optional)
Instructions:
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, honey, soy sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Place the shrimp in a large mixing bowl. Pour the glaze over the shrimp and toss to coat evenly. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes.
- Wrap each shrimp with a half-slice of bacon, overlapping the ends slightly.
- Thread 4-5 bacon-wrapped shrimp onto each skewer (optional).
- Arrange the shrimp skewers (or individual wrapped shrimp) on a baking sheet.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the shrimp are pink and opaque. Turn halfway through for even cooking.
- Serve hot, garnished with a sprinkle of fresh parsley or chives (optional).
