Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup (60ml) soy sauce (low sodium if preferred)
- 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) rice vinegar
- 2 teaspoons (10ml) sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 4 pieces of salmon fillet (6 oz / 170g each), skin-on or skinless
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sliced green onions for garnish
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
- Place salmon fillets in a baking dish. Pour the marinade over the salmon, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Marinate for 15-30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Remove salmon from the marinade (reserve marinade) and season with salt and pepper. Sear salmon skin-side down for 3-4 minutes until golden, then flip.
- Brush reserved marinade over the salmon. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for an additional 8-10 minutes or until salmon flakes easily with a fork.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
