Ingredients:

  • 350 grams hot cooked rice
  • 1 ½ tablespoons rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 8 slices sashimi salmon or 4 imitation crab sticks
  • ¼ avocado
  • 1 leaf lettuce
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • White sesame seeds for rolling

Instructions:

  1. Mix vinegar, sugar, and salt into hot cooked rice until well combined. Let the rice cool to room temperature.
  2. Peel and slice avocado into long strips, about 1 cm wide. Sprinkle avocado strips with a little vinegar to prevent browning.
  3. Spread white sesame seeds on a sheet of plastic wrap, forming a 13 x 13 cm square.
  4. Wet your hands to prevent sticking. Place half of the cool rice on top of the sesame seeds and press into a square.
  5. Spread mayonnaise over the rice and layer lettuce, avocado, and salmon or imitation crab carefully on top.
  6. Using the plastic wrap to assist, roll the sushi tightly from one end to the other. Remove the plastic wrap once rolled and slice into pieces with a sharp knife.
  7. Repeat the process with the remaining rice and fillings.
