Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450 g) large prawns, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) salt
- 1/2 teaspoon (2 g) black pepper
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-2 red chili peppers, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon (15 g) brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lime juice
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon (15 ml) water (optional)
Instructions:
- Clean, peel, and devein the prawns. Pat dry and season with salt and pepper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine minced garlic, chopped red chili peppers, soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, lime juice, and cornstarch mixture (if using). Whisk until well combined.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add seasoned prawns and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink.
- Pour the spicy garlic sauce over the prawns. Stir to coat, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens slightly (if using cornstarch).
- Remove from heat and serve immediately, garnished with fresh cilantro or lime wedges if desired.
