Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450 g) large prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2 g) black pepper
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-2 red chili peppers, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon (15 ml) water (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Clean, peel, and devein the prawns. Pat dry and season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine minced garlic, chopped red chili peppers, soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, lime juice, and cornstarch mixture (if using). Whisk until well combined.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add seasoned prawns and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink.
  4. Pour the spicy garlic sauce over the prawns. Stir to coat, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens slightly (if using cornstarch).
  5. Remove from heat and serve immediately, garnished with fresh cilantro or lime wedges if desired.
