Ingredients:
- 2 (6 oz / 170g) Ahi tuna steaks
- 1 tbsp (15ml) olive oil
- 1/2 tsp (3g) kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp (1g) coarsely ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp (15ml) soy sauce
- 1 tsp (5ml) toasted sesame oil
- 1 clove (3g) garlic, finely minced
- 1/2 tsp (2g) fresh ginger, grated
Instructions:
- Pat the tuna steaks completely dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger to create the marinade.
- Brush the marinade generously over all sides of the tuna, then season with salt and pepper. Let the tuna sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease the basket.
- Place the steaks in the basket, ensuring they are not touching, and cook for 3 minutes.
- Carefully flip the steaks using tongs and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Remove the tuna when the internal temperature hits 115°F (46°C) for medium-rare. Let the steaks rest on a plate for 3 minutes to reach a final temperature of 125°F (52°C).
