Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon sea salt, plus more for sprinkling
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 6 ounces (170g) semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Make the Salted Caramel: Cook sugar in a saucepan until melted and amber in colour. Add butter, then cream, and whisk vigorously until smooth. Stir in salt. Allow to cool slightly.
- Prepare the Brownie Batter: Melt butter and chocolate together. Stir in sugar, then eggs and vanilla.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Gently fold in flour and salt until just combined. Don't overmix!
- Assemble the Skillet: Pour brownie batter into the skillet. Drizzle with salted caramel.
- Bake: Bake at 350°F (175°C) until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
