Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs (900g) Snow Crab Clusters, frozen or thawed
  • 4 cups (950 ml) Water
  • 1 Lemon, cut into wedges (optional, for aroma)
  • 1 Bay Leaf (optional, for aroma)
  • ½ cup (115g) Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Chives, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon Black Pepper

Instructions:

  1. Pour water into the large pot. Add lemon wedges and bay leaf (if using). Bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. If using frozen snow crab clusters, ensure it is thawed.
  3. Place the steamer basket inside the pot, ensuring the water doesn't touch the bottom of the basket. Arrange the snow crab clusters in a single layer in the basket.
  4. Cover the pot tightly with a lid. Reduce heat to medium-high and steam for 8-10 minutes, or until the crab is heated through and fragrant. The shells should be bright red.
  5. While the snow crab clusters are steaming, melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl or saucepan. Add minced garlic, parsley, chives, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to the melted butter. Stir to combine.
  6. Remove the snow crab clusters from the pot using tongs. Serve immediately with the garlic-herb butter on the side and nutcrackers or kitchen shears for cracking the shells.
