Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds (900g) frozen or thawed crab legs (Snow, King, or Dungeness)
  • 1 cup (240ml) water
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) dry white wine (optional)
  • 1 lemon, quartered
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 cup (115g/1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, combine water, white wine (if using), lemon quarters, and bay leaves.
  2. Place the crab legs in the steamer basket. Ensure the water level is below the basket.
  3. Cover the pot tightly and steam for 10-15 minutes, or until heated through.
  4. Melt the butter. Stir in the minced garlic, parsley, chives, lemon zest, and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Remove the crab legs from the steamer and serve immediately with the garlic-herb butter for dipping.
