Ingredients:

  • 1/2 sac Mentaiko (spicy salted cod roe) or Tarako (salted cod roe)
  • 1 tbsp Mayonnaise or cream cheese
  • 1 slice Sliced bread (white, whole grain, or your choice)

Instructions:

  1. Use the back of a kitchen knife to scrape out the insides of the mentaiko into a small bowl. Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature if using.
  2. Combine the scraped mentaiko with mayonnaise or softened cream cheese until well blended.
  3. Generously spread the mentaiko mixture over the slice of bread, ensuring it is completely covered.
  4. Place the slice of bread on a piece of aluminum foil. Toast in the toaster oven for about 4-5 minutes until crispy, keeping an eye to avoid burning.
