Ingredients:
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 cup beer (lager or ale)
- 1 large egg
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
- Whisk in the beer and egg until smooth. Chill the batter in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- In a deep pot, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Dip each shrimp into the chilled batter, ensuring they are well-coated.
- Carefully add battered shrimp to the hot oil in batches and fry for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove shrimp and place on paper towels to drain.
- Serve the shrimp hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
