Ingredients:

  • 2 (6 oz / 170g) Saku Ahi Tuna steaks (sushi grade)
  • 3 tbsp (15g) Everything Bagel Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) Kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp (1g) Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) Avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp (5g) Toasted sesame oil

Instructions:

  1. Pat the tuna steaks completely dry with paper towels to ensure a proper sear. Season lightly with salt and pepper on all sides.
  2. Sprinkle Everything Bagel seasoning onto a flat plate. Press each side and the edges of the tuna steaks firmly into the seasoning to create a full 360-degree crust.
  3. Heat avocado oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering and just beginning to smoke.
  4. Place tuna steaks in the pan and sear for 1.5 to 2 minutes per side without moving them until a mahogany-colored crust forms.
  5. Remove tuna from the pan immediately and let the steaks rest on a cutting board for 3–5 minutes before slicing.
  6. Optional: Drizzle with lemon juice and toasted sesame oil before serving.
