Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons paprika (preferably smoked)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ~3 gallons water for boiling
  • 4 ears of corn, cut in half
  • 3 medium-sized potatoes, quartered (Yukon Gold or red potatoes work well)
  • A few cloves of garlic, smashed (optional)
  • One pound large shrimp, deveined with shells on
  • One pound crab legs (snow crab or Dungeness crab)
  • One pound mussels or clams, cleaned and debearded
  • Fresh parsley (optional garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (optional garnish)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all the seafood boil seasoning ingredients. Mix well until fully combined.
  2. In a large pot (at least six quarts), bring approximately three gallons of water to a rolling boil over high heat.
  3. Once the water is boiling vigorously, add in your quartered potatoes and corn halves along with half of your seafood seasoning blend. Cover and let it cook for about ten minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
  4. After ten minutes have passed, carefully add your shrimp and crab legs into the pot along with the remaining seasoning mix. Stir gently but thoroughly so that all ingredients get coated with flavor.
  5. Cover again and cook for an additional five to seven minutes until the shrimp are pink and opaque; if using mussels or clams, they should be open when cooked through.
  6. Carefully drain everything using a colander in your sink; you can reserve some broth if youd like! Spread out the seafood and vegetables on a newspaper-lined table or serving platter.
  7. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over everything before enjoying!
