Ingredients:
- 1 (12 oz) package Wonton wrappers (approx. 30)
- 2 Tbsp Neutral oil (vegetable or rapeseed)
- Flaky Sea Salt, To taste
- 2 (8 oz) blocks Cream Cheese, full-fat, softened completely
- 1/2 cup Sour Cream, full-fat
- 1/4 cup Mayonnaise, full-fat
- 8 oz Crab Meat (canned, fresh, or imitation), well-drained and flaked
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 Tbsp Low-Sodium Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 tsp Sriracha or Hot Sauce (optional)
- 1/2 tsp Fresh Black Pepper
- 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese, shredded, low-moisture
- 3 Tbsp Spring Onion (Green Onions), sliced thin, for garnish
- Sweet Chilli Sauce (Optional Drizzle, for serving)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Wonton Dippers: Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Stack and slice 5–6 wonton wrappers diagonally into chips. Arrange on the baking sheet, lightly brush or spray with neutral oil, and sprinkle sparingly with flaky sea salt.
- Bake the Dippers: Bake the wonton chips for 6–8 minutes, or until deeply golden brown and crispy. Watch carefully to prevent burning. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool completely.
- Mix the Dip Base: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise until light, smooth, and lump-free. Ensure the cream cheese is thoroughly soft for the best texture.
- Add Flavorings: Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and Sriracha (if using). Mix until just combined. Taste the mixture and adjust seasonings as needed.
- Fold in Crab: Gently fold in the well-drained and flaked crab meat. Avoid overmixing, which can shred the crab too finely.
- Assemble and Bake: Scrape the crab mixture evenly into a prepared 9-inch pie dish or baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the dip.
- Bake the Dip: Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the dip is heated through, bubbling around the edges, and the cheese topping is melted and lightly golden. For extra color, finish under a hot grill (broiler) for 1–2 minutes, monitoring constantly.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the dish from the oven and let it stand for 5 minutes. Garnish generously with sliced spring onions. Drizzle with sweet chilli sauce if desired, and serve immediately with the prepared crispy wonton dippers.
