Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/2 cup (115g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 cup (100g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup (180ml) whole milk
- 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
- Use a pastry cutter or fork to mix in cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gently fold in shredded cheddar cheese.
- Pour in the milk and stir until just combined, avoiding over-mixing.
- Scoop the dough onto a floured surface and pat into a 1-inch thick disk. Cut out biscuits using a round cutter or free-form them with your hands.
- Place biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the biscuits are baking, mix melted butter, garlic powder, and parsley in a small bowl.
- Once baked, brush the biscuits with the garlic butter glaze immediately and serve warm.
