Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 cup (115g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup (180ml) whole milk
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Use a pastry cutter or fork to mix in cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gently fold in shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Pour in the milk and stir until just combined, avoiding over-mixing.
  6. Scoop the dough onto a floured surface and pat into a 1-inch thick disk. Cut out biscuits using a round cutter or free-form them with your hands.
  7. Place biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. While the biscuits are baking, mix melted butter, garlic powder, and parsley in a small bowl.
  9. Once baked, brush the biscuits with the garlic butter glaze immediately and serve warm.
