Ingredients:

  • 2 Tilapia fillets (approx. 6 oz / 170g each)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (60g)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (30ml)
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a shallow dish, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Whisk to combine.
  2. Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Dredge each tilapia fillet in the flour mixture, ensuring both sides are evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  5. Carefully place the coated tilapia fillets in the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  6. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the fish is golden brown and flakes easily with a fork, and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  7. Remove the tilapia fillets from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and your favourite sides.
