Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp lime zest
  • 1 tsp fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 2 (6 oz) tilapia fillets

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Stir in the olive oil, lime juice, lime zest, and chopped cilantro until it forms a thick, aromatic paste.
  3. Pat the tilapia fillets thoroughly with a paper towel to remove surface moisture.
  4. Line a baking sheet with foil and place the fillets in the center.
  5. Slather the chili-lime paste evenly over the top and sides of each fillet, pressing it in slightly so it adheres.
  6. Top each fillet with a thin slice of fresh lime.
  7. Set oven to high broil and place the pan on the top rack, approximately 6 inches from the heat source.
  8. Broil for 7–10 minutes until the edges are charred and the fish reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
