Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground chicken
  • 1 cup (150g) Brussels sprouts, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 12 round dumpling wrappers (store-bought or homemade)
  • Soy sauce, for dipping
  • Sriracha or chili oil (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Brussels sprouts: Clean and trim the Brussels sprouts. Finely chop them into small pieces.
  2. Make the filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped Brussels sprouts, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  3. Prepare the dumpling wrappers: Lay out dumpling wrappers on a clean surface. Place a rounded tablespoon of filling in the center of each wrapper.
  4. Form the siomay: Dip your finger in water and moisten the edges of the wrapper. Gather the wrapper around the filling and pinch to seal, leaving the top open.
  5. Steam the siomay: Prepare the steamer by bringing water to a gentle boil. Place the siomay in the steaming basket, ensuring they do not touch. Steam for about 20 minutes, until cooked through.
  6. Serve: Carefully remove the siomay from the steamer. Serve hot with soy sauce and optional Sriracha or chili oil.
