Ingredients:
- 4 (6-ounce/170g) salmon fillets
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the minced garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, water, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down (if skin-on) in the hot skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and golden brown. Flip the salmon and cook for another 3-4 minutes. Pour the glaze over the salmon and cook for 2-3 minutes, spooning the glaze over the salmon, until the glaze is thickened and the salmon is cooked through (internal temperature reaches 145°F/63°C).
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place salmon fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the glaze evenly over the salmon. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork (internal temperature reaches 145°F/63°C). Basting with the glaze halfway through the cooking time is recommended.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, if desired. Serve immediately. Enjoy your Salmon with Brown Sugar Garlic!
