Ingredients:

  • 3 cups basmati rice
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 medium onions
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup fresh chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 cup fresh dill
  • 4 cans tuna in water
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric
  • Fish masala spices
  • Black pepper
  • Salt

Instructions:

  1. Add a little bit of oil into a cooking pan and add the chopped onion, salt, pepper, and turmeric. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
  2. Add the rice to boiling water and cook until half done, about 5-6 minutes. Drain the rice and set it aside.
  3. In the same pan, add chopped garlic and fish spices. Stir for 1 minute.
  4. Add drained tuna (without water or oil), chopped cilantro, dill, and chopped tomatoes. Mix well.
  5. Stir in the tomato paste and cover. Let it cook for 5 minutes to blend flavors.
  6. In a separate pan, add some oil and layer half of the cooked rice, then add half of the tuna mixture. Repeat with remaining rice and tuna mixture. Finish with a layer of rice.
  7. Add 1/2 cup of water, cover the pan, and cook on medium heat for 30 minutes. Reduce to low heat and continue to cook until rice is fully done.
