Ingredients:

  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (1.5 pounds/680 grams)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) barbecue sauce (your choice of flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) salt
  • ½ teaspoon (2 g) black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels to ensure crispy skin.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Rub the spice mix all over the chicken thighs, ensuring to get under the skin for maximum flavor.
  4. Cover the chicken and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the fridge.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Place chicken thighs in a baking dish, skin side up.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes uncovered, then baste with barbecue sauce.
  8. Continue baking for another 10-15 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the chicken skin is golden brown.
  9. Let the chicken rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
