Ingredients:
- 2 slices firm sandwich bread (Sourdough or Pullman loaf)
- 1 tbsp salted butter or cream cheese, room temperature
- 3 oz honey-glazed ham, thinly sliced
- 2 slices sharp cheddar or provolone cheese
- 1 slice white American cheese or Swiss cheese
- 1 small carrot or cucumber
- 1 tsp mustard or mayonnaise
- 1 handful baby spinach
Instructions:
- Spread a thin, even layer of butter or cream cheese on both slices of bread to create a moisture barrier.
- Place the base cheese slice (Cheddar) on the bottom piece of bread to create a flat, uniform 'canvas'.
- Fold the thinly sliced honey ham into 'ribbons' or small rolls and center them on the cheese layer to add architectural height.
- Use decorative cookie cutters to stamp shapes out of the white American or Swiss cheese and the carrot or cucumber slices.
- Apply a small dot of mustard or mayo as 'edible glue' to the back of the decorative cheese and vegetable shapes, then press them onto the top of the sandwich design.
- Tuck baby spinach leaves around the base of the ham to represent grass or greenery before closing the sandwich or serving open-faced.
