Ingredients:

  • 4 (6 oz / 170g) tilapia fillets
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions:

  1. Pat the tilapia fillets extremely dry using paper towels to ensure a proper sear.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to create a thick paste.
  3. Brush the spice paste evenly over the top and sides of each fillet.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the fillets in the basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch.
  5. Air fry for 10–12 minutes. If edges become mahogany-colored at the 6-minute mark, reduce heat to 375°F (190°C) for the remaining time.
  6. Remove the fillets using silicone tongs and let the fish rest on a warm plate for 2 minutes.
  7. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top immediately before serving.
